doc. PhDr. Šárka Portešová, Ph.D.


Sarka Portesova got her M.A. in Psychology at the Faculty of Arts, Masaryk University in Brno. Completed a one-year research fellowship in Canada. Completed a postgraduate program in Developmental Psychology, research collaboration with the Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth in Baltimore and authored an intercultural study on perfectionism in intellectually gifted adolescents. Her dissertation paper focused on perfectionism in gifted children and adolescents. In 2010, completed her habilitation, thesis on Intellectually Gifted Children with Dyslexia – Diagnostics, Identification and Relevant Psychological Connections. Research interests include twice-exceptional children, a co-occurrence of giftedness and disability, reading literacy in gifted preschoolers and the development of meta-cognitive strategies in gifted learners. Author of two monographs and a number of journal papers. Currently works at the Institute for Research on Children, Youth and Family, Masaryk University in Brno where she also teaches courses on school and education psychology.
