Martin Herman is the president of the American Fund for Czech and Slovak Leadership Studies, a fund of Czech and Slovak Americans dedicated to the pursuit of excellence in education in their old homeland. Also, president of the Center for Talented Minds (CTM), founded in 2010 in collaboration with the Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth. CTM is open to all ambitious students. In 1976, Martin left Czechoslovakia for the United States. For twenty years, he worked as an economist at the World Bank, later free-lancing on projects all over the world. His experience as a high-school and university student in Prague, and later as a student in the United States convinced him of the importance of education, especially of a solid foundation gained in primary and secondary schools.
