MUDr. František Koukolík DrSc., FCMA.


Frantisek Koukolik is a physician, neuropathologist, science essayist. He graduated in medicine at the Faculty of General Medicine of Charles University in Prague. He is a pathologist and neuropathologist focusing on neurodegenerative diseases and the relationship between brain and behavior. From 1983 to 2013, head of the Department of Pathology, Thomayer Hospital in Prague. Author of many research papers and books for medical professionals and the general public. He was awarded for science popularization by Czech Academy of Sciences and also received the Janssen Award, Mensa Award and the Vondracek Psychiatry Award. He was appointed a Knight of the Czech Medical Association. The planet 1997 RK was named in his honor.
