Doc. MgA. Petr Koliha


Petr Koliha graduated in directing at the Film and TV Faculty, FAMU. Started as a director for Czechoslovak TV, at the same time worked as a stage director at A Studio Rubín, a small avant-garde theater company (Chekhov’s The Cherry Orchard, Gorky’s Karamora). In 1989, he directed his debut feature Tender Barbarian, an adaptation of Bohumil Hrabal’s novel of the same name. From 1990 to 1995, producer at Czech TV specialized in features, made-for-TV drama and series (involved in approx. 50 projects). His producer group was awarded at a number of festivals (FITES Award 1994, Prix Europa 1995, etc). For Czech TV, he directed, for example, Cat on the Rails, Play Strindberg and Guardian Angels, and he staged Romeo and Juliet at the Činoherní studio in Ústí nad Labem. In 1996 he made his second feature, an adaptation of Michal Viewegh’s bestseller Bringing Up Girls in Bohemia. In 2012 he started working at Czech TV ahead of the launch of ČT :D, a new channel for kids.
